From her time at St. Croix Educational Complex (Academic Program) to becoming a trailblazer in healthcare workforce development and entrepreneurship, Olivette Burroughs has dedicated her career to making a meaningful impact. With a strong background in leadership, mentorship, and business, Olivette continues to uplift communities and inspire future generations.
A Career Dedicated to Healthcare & Community Impact
With over a decade of experience in healthcare workforce development, Olivette served as the Statewide Health Workforce Manager at the Virginia Department of Health, overseeing a $20 million annual budget to improve healthcare access in medically underserved areas (MUAs). She led 16 recruitment and retention programs, ensuring diverse, culturally competent providers served the communities that needed them most.
Entrepreneurial Spirit & Authorship
Olivette’s passion for business started early, shaped by her experiences in her family’s business. Over the years, Olivette has launched multiple ventures, including a custom silk printing and apparel line, a consulting firm focused on workforce solutions, and a published book, “A New Journey to Milk and Honey: From the Caribbean to the United States,” where Olivette shares her personal journey of resilience, faith, and success.
